Dawgs Headed Back to the Championship
March 24, 2013
Memphis, TN
The Huskies made the trip to Tennessee for the third time in twelve months and walked away with a bid to the National Championship Tournament held in Washington, DC in April!

Team 1237 entered the competition looking to build on an already impressive season. The veteran mockers opened with a tough, split round against Rhodes B, and followed that up with a double-ballot victory over Auburn. The Huskies took on Southern Methodist's A team in Round 3, again finishing with a close split in a hotly contested match. To secure the bid, Washington defeated Baylor in the final round.

Team 1238, comprised of entirely first and second year members, had a terrific showing as well. After beating Northwest-rival Portland, they took on Vanderbilt A, who went on to finish the weekend undefeated. But, the Husky mockers were resilient and took two ballots from Portland's other team before falling short against Texas A on Sunday. Team 1238's Rio Frazier earned her first career award for her portrayal of expert witness, Dr. Quincy Montgomery!

After just missing the National Championship Tournament last season, earning a bid this year marks one of the sweetest performances in program history. The Huskies emerged as the only Pacific Northwest school to attend the Big Dance, and look to make a strong national statement against the best of the best in the Nation's capital next month. For Team 1238, this was a difficult result to stomach--the young mockers won enough ballots to advance, but were one half point in strength of schedule away from earning a bid. Fortunately, they'll be hungry next year to improve and every single member will be returning.
